High Winds to Hit Middle Tennessee From Hurricane Irma

With the remnants of Hurricane, now Tropical Depression, Irma headed northwest for Tennessee, local weather will be wet and windy.

The current forecast by the National Weather Service calls for rain beginning Monday evening at 6 p.m., continuing through at least Wednesday.

No flash flood watches have been issued, as of 2 p.m. Monday, however a wind advisory is in effect, according to the NWS:

“Strong winds associated with Hurricane Irma will occur as it approaches Middle Tennessee on Monday night. Even though Irma will weaken from a tropical storm to a tropical depression as it approaches Middle Tennessee, sustained northeast winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph can be expected across Middle Tennessee on Monday night.”

The advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The NWS urges drivers to be careful and everyone to be aware of potential trees and other debris from winds.
