Next to Frothy Monkey on 5th Avenue South, you may have noticed construction and extensive renovation over the past year at the former site of First United Methodist Church.

That would be the Historic 5th Square project, being developed by Roderick Heller, who is also behind the Harpeth Square project, Bill Powell and Jay Franks. Together they comprise Church Street Associates, LLC.

The trio first bought the 2.34 acre property from the church in December 2015.

After renovations, which are nearly complete, the three buildings will offer 60,000 square feet of office and retail space and 96 parking spaces with frontage on 4th Avenue South, Church Street and 5th Avenue South.

The tenants set to go in include everything from architects to restaurants.

So far, they are:

408 Church Street
Generations Church
Franklin Classical School

143 5th Ave South
906 Architecture

135 5th Ave South
Restaurant (to be determined)
Waterford Law
George P. Johnson Company
Museum of the Bible & Klove Radio
BriBiz Entertainment Business Management., Inc

“We are close to finishing the total renovation of the 135 5th Ave South Building,” Franks said. “Bill Powell has led the design team with Mike Hathaway and Brandon Purdy of 906 Architecture. My company Enterprise Construction, Inc. is doing the construction.”
