Household Hazardous Waste Collection This Saturday

Williamson County’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is this Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Administrative Complex located at 1320 West Main Street in Franklin.

Some items that you can bring to the Household Hazardous Waste collection are paint thinners, pesticides and herbicides, oven cleaners and drain cleaners, swimming pool chemicals, roofing tar, aerosols and driveway sealant. View the full acceptable items list at www.williamsonrecycles.org.

When bringing these items to Household Hazardous Waste Day, you should line the trunk of your car with plastic or newspaper and store all hazardous materials in closed containers.

Please do not bring any medical and infectious wastes, radioactive wastes including smoke detectors, or any ammunition or explosives.

BOPAE items will not be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste collection; however, City of Franklin Solid Waste will be having BOPAE collection Saturday, May 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 417 Century Court in Franklin. BOPAE accepts batteries, oil, paint, antifreeze and electronics year-round. Only Williamson County residents can bring BOPAE items to recycle at City of Franklin.

Also, conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste, meaning waste from non-household sources such as businesses, schools, farms or churches, is acceptable but by appointment only. Please call 615-643-3170 to request a price quote and to schedule an appointment.

If you would like a full list of what you can and cannot bring, you can check out Williamson Recycles’ website at www.williamsonrecycles.org or you can call our office at 615-790-0742.

Household Hazardous Waste collection is not county specific so anyone is welcome to bring items to recycle at this event.
