Hometown Hero Tommy Heithcock Recognized by Darrell Waltrip

Darrell Waltrip Automotive Group honors hometown heroes each month for their service and dedication to the community. For February they recognized Tommy Heithcock.

Tommy is a retired Franklin police officer who spent 36 years serving Williamson County and 26 of those were on the Franklin Police force. He also volunteers with the Peytonsville Volunteer Fire Department and serves as president of their board. His life is filled with stories of service to others according to his family. “You can always count on him to show up for important things in the life of our family, including school plays and 1st grade graduations”, shared Tommy’s nephew, Kenny Heithcock, who also nominated his uncle for the award.

This dedication to others is why he is the March 2013 Hometown Hero. “It has been a privilege and an honor to work and serve in my home town,” said Tommy when asked about his service. As part of his honoring a $500 donation to Williamson County’s Peytonsville Fire Department was made by Darrell Waltrip in Tommy’s name. “Any young boy growing up looks to his father as a hero anyway, but being a police officer, he was a super hero”, shared Heithcock’s oldest son, Shannon.  “I saw how he treated people and worked with people, how he was honest and liked.  I can’t imagine him doing anything else.  He was made to serve his community and help others.”
