The History of the Williamson County Fair

2015 Williamson County Fair

In the beginning, a small group of individuals met to discuss the agri-tourism trend sweeping the country and how the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Park and the UT Extension Service could partner to capture that enthusiasm in our county. Thus the idea to bring back a traditional county fair was born and the city of Franklin held the new Williamson County Fair in 2005.

With an opening year theme of “Celebrate,” the fair continued to grow and celebrate with successor themes, such as:

  • 2006 – A Family Reunion – Come Join Our Family
  • 2007 – Find the Fun At The Fair
  • 2008 – Red, White & Blue Ribbon Fair
  • 2009 – We’ve Got A Good Thing Growing
  • 2010 – Come Be A Kid Again
  • 2011 – County Fair With A Western Flair
  • 2012 – Life On The Farm
  • 2013 – Rock Around The Fair
  • 2014 – Constructing Good Times – 10 Years Of Fun!
  • 2015 – WILD About the Williamson County Fair

Each year the Williamson County Fair has grown, and has captured the attention of state and national associations. The Tennessee Association of Fairs (TAF) and the International Association of Fairs & Expos (IAFE) has honored the fair with various awards and recognitions through the years. The most exciting accomplishments were received in January, 2014 at the annual TAF Convention where the Williamson County Fair was awarded the AAA Division State Champion Fair for the 2013 fair, and at the TAF Convention in January, 2015 were the fair received the AAA Division Premier Fair for the 2014 fair.

The Fair Board has partnered with numerous volunteers, community organizations, businesses and sponsors to ensure each year built upon the success of the prior year. These partnerships have resulted in us being able to continue to provide a safe, educational and fun community event for our visitors of all ages to enjoy!

As Williamson County celebrates year 11, the fair continues to celebrate the county’s agricultural heritage,  community and the memories of the families who have joined as they began generational traditions of their own.

The Williamson County Fair Board thanks their sponsors and the community, who has supported the dedicated efforts of their volunteers who donate their time and energy to provide education and entertainment.

Don’t miss the Williamson County Fair, which is underway now through August 13th at the Williamson County Ag EXPO Park.
