Returning to the Factory in Franklin, 230 Franklin Road, Heroes in Heels will take place on October 23, 6:30 p.
The Maryland Farms YMCA will be hosting its 15th annual fashion show, Heroes in Heels at Liberty Hall in the Factory at Franklin. Breast cancer survivors from the Maryland Farms After Breast Cancer (ABC) program will walk down the runway modeling clothes from Dillard’s Green Hills. The master of ceremonies will be meteorologist Dan Thomas from WSMV Channel 4.
“Heroes in Heels is more than just a celebration of these women who have fought and are fighting breast cancer. It is a unique way to raise funds so that they can get the support they and other survivors deserve during this challenging time,” said Chelsea Spence, District Development Director for the Maryland Farms YMCA. “Every year, 65 women locally go through ABC, and we rely on donations to keep the program alive. Every bit counts.”
The event’s proceeds benefit the Maryland Farms 16-week ABC program, which provides exercise, nutrition and wellness services free of charge to breast cancer patients and survivors. Participants in this holistic program benefit from group personal training with Pink Ribbon-certified personal trainers, survivor-specific nutrition classes with a registered dietitian, emotional support groups, lymphedema education and screening, and free use of YMCA facilities.
Tables for eight guests, half tables for four and general admission seats to the fashion show are available. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend, but wish to make a donation to the After Breast Cancer program, please visit http://www.ymcamidtn.org/events/heroesMFY.
