Give your eclipse glasses a second chance! Astronomers Without Borders and its partners have announced a program to collect glasses to be sent to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents. The Brentwood Library is accepting eclipse glasses for Astronomers Without Borders.

Curious as to whether you can keep those glasses for the next eclipse? Yes, if they are compliant with the ISO 12312-2 safety standard, according to NASA and as long as the filters aren’t scratched, punctured, or torn. NASA also noted that some eclipse glasses labels with warnings that you should discard glasses after three years, but states those warnings are outdated and don’t apply to eclipse viewers compliant with the ISO 12312-2 standard.

The Brentwood Library is located at 8109 Concord Road, Brentwood TN 37067. Hours of operation are from 9a – 8p, Monday – Thursday, Friday 9a – 6p, Saturday 10a – 6p, and Sunda 1p – 6p.
