Harpeth Hotel Opens

Harpeth Hotel

There are a few finishing touches being added each day but the wait is over – downtown Franklin’s first luxury hotel, The Harpeth Hotel, is open. The hotel is hosting a soft opening now with the official opening to take place next week.

If you are looking for a holiday staycation getaway, rooms are now available to reserve. Also, 1799 Kitchen & Cocktails and McGavock’s Coffee Bar & Provisions is open for business.

From the main entrance on Second Avenue, you will find the entire building illuminated. As you enter the lobby, you will be greeted by a large Christmas tree, to the left you will find a library filled with books curated by the local bookstore, Landmark Booksellers. While in the lobby restroom, you will soon hear the reading of local author Robert Hicks’s book Widow of the South.

The Harpeth Hotel is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton™Â and Valor Hospitality Partners, a boutique hotel with 119-rooms. The hotel tells the story of the state’s history from its selection of Chevron wood flooring to its selections of colors throughout the space.

We stopped by to take a look at the lobby and enjoy a sampling of food at the 1799 Kitchen & Cocktails. The culinary team consists of Director of Food and Beverage William Friedrichs, Executive Chef Jay Swift and Associate Executive Chef Cassie Upshaw (formerly with Holland House, Nashville.

The family-style meal included two first course items- gem lettuce wedge salad and white shrimp aguachile served with crispy chicken skin. For the main course, there were three options: Pork Roast served with wheatberry porridge, braised celery, and pickled apple, Branzino, the table favorite, is a preserved lump crab beurre blanc with shaved fennel and Ribeye Steak with wilted spinach. Finishing the meal was butter cake served with warm hazelnut sauce, pickled cherries, orange zest and whipped cream and pot de creme with cookie crumble, salted caramel, toasted marshmallows, and effervescent white chocolate.

The Harpeth Hotel is a must-see this holiday season. Stop by for a meal or a cup of coffee. Inside you will feel transformed to another place and yet feel right at home.
