Guffee Host Seminar on Internet Dangers and More

Juvenile Judge Sharon E. Guffee will host a public seminar on sexting, texting and all things Cyber on Wednesday, May 1st from 6-7 p.m. at Independence High School. Judge Guffee is launching a parental awareness campaign which includes a series of free public sessions on contemporary topics related to parenting teenagers.

Presenters in the series which begins this Wednesday will include an agent from the FBI, Franklin Police Department, Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, and the District Attorney’s Office.  This session covers the legal and social problems that surround sexting and texting.  Also included in the discussion will be internet dangers as they relate to teens.

There will be a question and answer session and Dr. Jim Wellborn will discuss good parenting practices and how to develop a guide for setting up age appropriate internet privileges. “The latest trends with electronics change on a daily basis,” said Judge Guffee, “I encourage all parents to become familiar with this information.  We want to provide the resources to assist them.”
