Gru and the Gang are back in ‘Despicable Me 2’.

It’s been three years since audiences have seen Gru (Steve Carell), Agnes, Edith and Margo and a lot has changed. Gru no longer concocts villainous acts. Instead, he makes jams and jellies, which are not so tasty and he takes care of his girls. Gru’s priorities have shifted. He is now concerned with things like Margo’s new boyfriend and Agnes’ school play. He is less concerned with becoming infamous and more focused with being a great dad.

Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and Mr. Perkins (Will Arnett), employees of the Anti Villain League, surprise Gru with an opportunity to be an agent and track down a villain, who has created a nasty serum, turning those who take it into feral, monstrous eating machines. With a new positive look on life, Gru accepts and tries his hand at being a hero. Of course, his minions are there to help and their brotherly bickering, cackles and gibberish are the life of the movie.

‘Despicable Me 2’ is a wonderful sequel. Writers, Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul and Directors, Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud did a wonderful job of retaining the characters viewers came to love in the original movie, yet showing their progression, especially Gru and introducing new characters, like Lucy and El Macho (Benjamin Bratt). Margo’s adolescence is perfectly highlighted, with plenty of jokes revolving around Gru trying to keep her away from Antonio, a mysterious boy she met at the mall. As in the last movie, Carell’s unknown accent is hilarious and Agnes is as cute as can be.

‘Despicable Me 2’ is a funny, family film, perfect for all families. Parents will enjoy this animated tale as much as their children.
