Williamson, Inc., the county chamber of commerce, will join with local manufacturers on Oct. 14 to mark National Manufacturing Day with an effort to raise awareness.

Williamson, Inc. Economic Development and several Williamson County manufacturers are joining forces on that Friday to celebrate National Manufacturing Day as part of a national coordinated effort to change the public’s perception about today’s manufacturing environment and draw attention to the opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide.

Manufacturing Day is an annual event that occurs on the first Friday in October during which North American manufacturers open their doors to showcase what they do with their communities. This year, Manufacturing Day is on Friday Oct. 7, but Williamson County will celebrate on Oct. 14 due to Fall Break in Williamson County Schools.nistmanufacturingday-1

During the next decade, nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will likely need to be filled; however, 2 million of those jobs will go unfilled due to the complexity in finding skilled workers.
