Quarterback Cade Granzow and running back Michael Burke each accounted for two touchdowns, as Brentwood cruised to a 31-11, first-round TSSA playoff victory over McGavock on Friday night.
Granzow threw for a score and ran for another. He was 11 of 18 passing for 142 yards, and ran eight times for 49 yards.
Burke rushed 21 times for 122 yards, and caught two more for 37. Walker Merrill also had two catches for 52 yards for Brentwood (9-2).
The Bruins, now on a four-game winning streak, scored the game’s first 24 points.
BHS hosts Independence (6-5), which upset the Bruins on their home field by a 42-31 score on Sept. 28, next Friday.
Brentwood’s Carter McKechnie caught a 6-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring early in the second quarter.
After a blocked punt, Granzow’s keeper helped BHS to a 14-09 lead after Tabor Miler’s point-after.
Miller then added a 21-yard field goal to give the Bruins a 17-0 lead just before half.
McGavock (3-8) got a third-quarter field goal and a late touchdown after a Brentwood fumble.
Burke added a fourth-quarter touchdown.
