Playing without graduated do-it-all star Austin Amor, GCA’s now-graduated quarterback, the Lions struggled in a 48-6 loss at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy.
Grace Christian trailed 48-0 at half, finally getting on the board when Dawson Bechman hit Callan Jones with a touchdown pass.
The Lions, led by former Titans quarterback Rusty Smith, field a young team this year. Led by Amor, last year’s team won the first playoff game in school history, a 64-24 win at Wayne County.
GCA has its home opener against Middle Tennessee Christian next week.
