Gordon Hampton Takes Position as New Parks Director

Williamson County Mayor, Rogers Anderson Wednesday announced the selection of Gordon Hampton as the Director for Williamson County’s Parks & Recreation Department. Hampton has held the position of Deputy Director for the department for the past two years.

Mayor Anderson was quoted as saying, “We interviewed a number of candidates interested in the position and the skills, knowledge and leadership experience that Gordon brings to the table confirmed that he was the right candidate to fill the vacancy. His 21 years of service with the department, along with his strong work ethic, character traits and capable leadership, have made Mr. Hampton a solid choice for this position.”

GordonHamptonFeb2015Before coming to work for Williamson County, he worked nine years at the Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation Department and later served as the Director of the McKendree Christian Life Center in downtown Nashville.

“I feel honored to have the opportunity to serve in the position of Director of such a fine parks and recreation department, where employees work as a team and understand that teamwork is the key to our success”, said Hampton. “We want to continue to ensure that our programs and facilities remain a source of pride for our Williamson County residents and provide places they will enjoy coming to for a wide variety of family health, wellness and  entertainment opportunities. Our goal is to have something for everybody.”

Hampton expressed his appreciation in being chosen to fill the position vacated by the retirement of Doug Hood, who had served in the position for approximately 26 years.
