GNASH: It’s Playoff Time

Before getting into the actual play, we have a note about the A-Game Sportsplex closing its doors on Thursday to the public.

With A-Game closing, GNASH loses two of its six rinks. The situation is fluid, and A-Game may reopen, but as of Thursday night a number of games, Friday night and on into the postseason, will have to be played somewhere else.

This is from GNASH president Bethany Bennett:

GNASH has been monitoring the proposed sale of A=Game since the contract was signed in the fall.  It has been our hope that the lease would continued to be honored through the end of the season, but we have been preparing for the possibillity that it would not.  If AGame does not reopen [on Friday], we will reschedule the two remaining regular season games for Monday at either Ford or Centennial in our game slots that had been reserved for the start of play-offs.  Our play-off schedule is being updated to accommodate completing our season by using the ice at Ford and Centennial. We are confident that we can make the necessary adjustments and end the season on a high note for our high school players.

The last games of the regular . The postseason tournaments begin on Monday. Brackets are not up yet, as there are a few teams with games to play yet. But, for all intents and purposes, these standings are pretty much what they will be:

GNASH

from GNASHockey.com

In the gold league, even though MBA is technically in first place, Ravenwood looks like the team to beat, despite losing to MBA 4-3 last week.

They are one goal below Centennial and Lipscomb-Brentwood Academy (74 each) in goals scored at 73, and they are tied with MBA at 22 with the least goals allowed. This despite playing 13 games, versus 14 for MBA and Lipscomb-BA and 15 for Centennial.

Looking at it this way: their average game this season is a 4-goal win. They average 5.6-1.6 win. That is a head-and-shoulders above the next best average, Lipscomb-BA’s, which is 5.3-2.4.

Leaders

Sean Hagan and Thomas Neal from Lipscomb-Brentwood Academy are first and second in GNASH in points, with Matthew Chalkley and William Habere from Brentwood also tearing things up.

Hagan leads the league in assists with 29 by a head-and-shoulders. Russel Morris from Tennessee Outlaws leads the league in goals, with Neal a close second.

Points

Franklin goalie Jonathan Vanatta is a wall. He is allowing 1.56 goals in  games, second best in GNASH. Thomas Ito of Ravenwood is third, allowing 1.72 goals per game.

Postseason

The brackets for the postseason tournament should be out in the near future. We will put up a post as soon as they are.
