Franklin resident and New York Times best-selling author and creator of the Seriously Seersucker event, Robert Hicks has released his latest book. In celebration of the release, an amazing evening of music and words celebrating Robert Hicks’ latest book release – The Orphan Mother – will take place at the Franklin Theatre on September 15th at 7pm.
Along with both choir and musicians, there will be readings from Hicks’ newest novel — the story of one woman’s struggle to understand her place in the world after enslavement. Seeking the truth behind her son’s murder, Mariah wants to be heard when all around her would have her remain silent.
The Orphan Mother is the second book written by Hicks preceded by Widow of the South with both books having Franklin as their backdrop in telling the stories of the women of the South. Read more here about Hicks latest book.
The book launch party is also a benefit for student scholarships at New Hope Academy in Franklin. Each guest will receive a signed, first-edition of The Orphan Mother. Purchase your tickets online at the Franklin Theatre website. The Orphan Mother is also available online to pre-order now but the book will be available on September 13.
