Tennessee’s sales tax holiday weekend runs July 31 through August 2, 2026, giving families a chance to save on clothing, school supplies, and computers right before the new school year begins.
What the Tennessee Sales Tax Holiday Covers
During the holiday weekend, the following items are exempt from sales tax:
- Clothing priced at $100 or less per item
- School and art supplies priced at $100 or less per item
- Computers or tablets for personal use priced at $1,500 or less
For details on qualifying items or restrictions, visit the Tennessee Department of Revenue website.
Finding School Supply Lists Before the Weekend
Most elementary and middle school websites already have supply lists posted, so families can plan their shopping ahead of the tax-free weekend. High school supply lists may not be finalized until after the first day of school on August 10. Parents with questions about what their child needs should contact the school directly.
