Coming off their first win in their first home game, Grace Christian (2-1, 1-1) welcomes the Moore County Raiders (2-2, 1-1) to the Lions’ Den for their 3rd game in Class A, Region 4. The Lions have been able to win games with their offense and their defense this year, and look to force the inconsistent Raiders into their game.

Amor Triggers Lions’ Attack

GCA quarterback Austin Amor has keyed the Lions’ balanced attack, accounting for 4 touchdowns in his team’s first 3 games. Amor has shown the capability to adjust to his opponent, throwing for more than 350 yards on the season, and adding nearly 200 yards on the ground. Amor has been complimented on the ground by GCA’s thunder and lightning running back duo of Dylan Woods and Jordan Whitson. Woods and Whitson have combined for 5 touchdowns on the season. Whitson and receiver Kolby Alonzo have led the Lions’ receiving corps through the first three weeks.

Two-Way Players Lead Defense

The Lion defense was able to force four turnovers last week, including the game-winning strip sack in the endzone to top Summertown. The GCA defense is led by Dylan Woods, Jordan Whitson and Cole Chapman. Woods has tallied double digit tackles in every game this season. Woods was able to clinch the game for the Lions with a late interception of the Eagles. Whitson and Chapman recovered a fumble in last week’s game, Chapman’s proving to be the game winner.

This week provides another test for a first-year Lions squad that has shown flashes of brilliance. An inconsistent Moore County team provides the Lions another opportunity to rise up the regional rankings early in the season and make a push for the Class A playoffs.
