The Grace Christian Academy Lions (0-2) made a furious comeback attempt Friday against Cornersville (1-2), but came up just a yard short.

After falling behind 29-7, the Lions came alive in the fourth quarter. However, they didn’t have enough in the end, falling 35-28.

They climbed back into the game in the fourth quarter behind a passing score from Austin Amor to Gavin Ford and a fumble scoop and score by Kolby Alonzo, cutting the lead to 29-21.

A touchdown run by Cornersville put the Bulldogs back up two scores, but GCA answered to cut the lead to 35-28.

The Lions got the ball back with 50 seconds left in the contest and went on a frantic drive. Amor hit Ford with a pass in the final seconds, but he couldn’t get into the end zone and was stopped on the 1-yard line as time expired.

GCA will be back at home in Week 4 as the undefeated Summertown Eagles (3-0) come to town.
