The Gateway Chamber Orchestra presents an exciting new commission Our City, by talented American composer Judd Greenstein, Monday, April 11, at 7:30 pm.

Our City celebrates home and one’s community. The concert will be held at The Franklin Theatre on Main Street. Greenstein’s work incorporates text based on the poetry of Walt Whitman. Featuring the vocalist DM Stith, a small choir and the world-class Gateway Chamber Orchestra, Our City creates a rich musical backdrop that shares a personal glimpse of our community, paying homage to the people and personality of Middle Tennessee. The commission is a collaboration with the Detroit Symphony and North Carolina Symphony.

“For our 2015-16 season finale, Gateway Chamber Orchestra creates a thrilling montage using a wide variety of music, composers, soloists and visuals to highlight the people and history in our corner of the world and concludes with Beethoven’s powerful masterpiece “Eroica,” says GCO Music Director Gregory Wolynec.

The GCO pulls out all the stops for this exhilarating season conclusion. Judd Greenstein’s original score set to the poetry of Walt Whitman features the vocal acrobatics of genre blending DM Stith. Beethoven’s mighty Eroica Symphony captures the spirit of the GCO ranging from deep sensitivity to inspirational exuberance.

Adult tickets are priced beginning at $25 and up, with special pricing for students and active military. Tickets are available online, by phone at (615) 538-2076 or at the Franklin Theatre Box office: Sunday & Monday noon-5pm | Tuesday – Saturday 11am-6 pm.
