Franklin running back Matt Gaca ran for 117 yards and two scores, and the Rebels held Dickson County to 115 total yards, as Franklin clinched a playoff berth with a 24-7 win.
Quarterback Joshua Nichols was 9 of 16 for 159 yards through the air. Receiver Chancellor Bright had five catches for 101 yards and a score.
Chapman Beaird and Cooper Palk had interceptions for the Rebels (6-4, 2-4 in 6-6A). Guy Lipscomb led the team with 7 1/2 tackles, two for loss.
The win, combined with Brentwood’s last-minute win over Centennial, got the Rebels the No. 4 seed from Region 6-6A.
The bad news: that game comes on the road against unbeaten Cane Ridge (10-0).
The Rebels opened up a 24-0 lead after Nichols hit Bright with a 25-yard touchdown, followed by Ian Burr’s extra point, with 7:58 left in the third quarter.
Gaca scored on a 2-yard run, Burr’s point-after putting the Rebels up 7-0 with 6:47 left in the second quarter.
After a Dickson County punt, Gaca added a 6-yard scoring run 3:21 later.
Burr hit a 30-yard field goal with three seconds left in the first half, and the Rebels led 17-0 at the break.
Dickson County scored its only points on Darian Burns’ 3-yard, third-quarter touchdown run.
The Rebels missed the playoffs a year ago after going 10-3 in 2016.
