FSSD Hosts Parenting Workshop Today

Franklin-Special-Schools-District

The Franklin Special School District (FSSD) is hosting a parenting workshop on March 12th at 6:30 p.m., at Freedom Intermediate School, 840 Glass Lane and everyone is invited to the “Raising a Responsible Child” discussion. Veteran parents and beginners are encouraged to come and take part in the sharing of ideas and techniques.

The workshop will cover 4 important topics: How to write a family mission statement, the difference between empowering and enabling, how to set limitations in children’s lives and two types of consequences that help children understand the relationship between consequences and limitations.

The presenter is Jim Williams, author of “Parenting on Point” and creator of the Pro-Active Parenting DVD series. He has presented hundreds of parenting workshops and school assemblies as part of his work with the United Way Agency’s Students Taking A Right Stand (STARS) program. In addition, Jim has written many articles for parenting magazines and has been interviewed by a variety of community television stations. He was also featured on the TBN show “Lifestyle Magazine.”
