The Franklin Special School District Child Nutrition Department has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Winston Foodservice to be used to purchase kitchen equipment.
“Everyone in the Child Nutrition department is so excited to be receiving 10 new pieces of equipment,” Cross said. “Our order has been placed for four of the Winston Retherm Ovens, three holding cabinets and four pass-through warming units. It was such a wonderful surprise and we are appreciative of Winston for this grant for their continued support of Child Nutrition programs across the country.”
Using a retherm oven, cafeteria staff can cook food ahead of time, then chill or freeze it until it’s needed. The oven reheats it quickly for large mass consumption.
