Friends & Fashion Celebrates 25 Years

On Monday, April 13th, Friends & Fashion held its 25th annual fashion show at the Embassy Suites benefitting Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. It was a lunch event with a silent auction, shopping and fashion and over 600 people attended.  Rhori Johnston,News Channel 5 anchor, hosted the event—the only male to host in 25 years—to which he said, “its about time!”  Belk, from the CoolSprings Galleria, sponsored the fashion show this year and has been involved with the show for the last 25 years.

Brett James, Grammy award winning songwriter, who is best known for writing song for artists like  Dierks Bentley, Carrie Underwood, Rodney Atkins, and Jason Aldean, entertained the audience. James sang his latest hit he wrote for Underwood, “Something in the Water.”   The James family has been supported by Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as Sandy James spoke about their experience with their son, Preston, who was born with a heart defect.

Guests enjoyed a video message from Senator Marsha Blackburn who began the Fashion & Friends event 25 years ago.  Blackburn asked the audience to raise a glass to 25 years of fashion and the work that has been accomplished over 25 years. Blackburn was unable to attend in person due to business in Washington.
