Friedman’s of Franklin Closing

Friedman's of Franklin

For six years, outdoor enthusiasts have been shopping at Friedman’s of Franklin for all their gear and apparel. Owner Carrie Drury has announced the store will close in July.

“It is with great sadness that I will be closing my store in July. It has been a wonderful six years, but with the increase cost of doing business, the competition of online sales and variable other obstacles, the time is now,” wrote Drury on Facebook.

Friedman’s, located at 1137 W Main St, carries gear and apparel for all kinds of outdoor hobbies like camping, fishing, canoe & kayaking and more.

Drury posted a long message on Facebook, which you can read here. She writes about how her passion for the outdoors was the inspiration for her to open her store and that the relationships she forged over the years are priceless.

“The relationships I have made in the six years I have been in business are worth more than any financial success story I could ever have.”

In her Facebook post, Drury thanks all the customers she’s had over the years and asks shoppers to consider shopping local whenever possible.

“I know its so much easier to order items from your computer to have delivered the next day, but when possible try to shop local, buy wine from a mom and pop store instead of a major grocery store, buy your nuts and bolts at a local hardware store instead of Home Depot, eat at a town cafe instead of a major franchise. These are your neighbors, your community.”
