Friday Five Week 7 By Chad Withrow

Week 7 has arrived and as we get closer and closer to the month of October and the stretch run of the regular season, I want to take a moment out of my Friday Five column to wish everyone a happy fall. Autumn weather has finally arrived and it’s shaping up to be the first crisp evening of the season. I also want to take a moment to remind everyone about all of the great coverage and weekly features on the site. In fact, we have so much high school football coverage here that I don’t need to write a word about any of my five games. It’s already been covered throughout the week. To illustrate, I’m going to let some of the talented writers and broadcasters on our site take it away. Here are my 5 games of the Week for Week 7 in order.

      1. Ensworth (4-2) @ Brentwood Academy (4-1)

Kevin Smith does a terrific job breaking down three games each and every week from a coach’s point of view. If you haven’t looked at his Thursday column, now is the time. Here is his preview of Ensworth @ Brentwood Academy complete with highlight footage of some of the best players in the game. Coach Speak

    2. Blackman (2-3) @ Smyrna (5-1)

Team pages are a big part of what we do here at TNHighSchoolFootball.com . Here are the team pages for Blackman and Smyrna. After reading about each team, you will see why they are vying for Rutherford County supremacy with Oakland.

    3. Beech (4-2) @ Gallatin (5-1)

Another cool thing about the site is that we get to post the video work of some very promising young broadcasters. One of those broadcasters is Jaclyn Wallace and she caught up with Gallatin star RB Jordan Mason. Here is the video.

You can also go in-depth with this match-up with this week’s edition of Coach Speak with Kevin Smith. CLICK HERE

    4. Watertown (6-0) @ Forrest (6-0)

Donovan Stewart knows more coaches than the head of the Tennessee Coaches Association. His info is second to none. In his weekly “Victory Formation” column, he takes a look at some of the biggest and best stories from across the state. In this week’s edition, he takes a look at all of the games featuring undefeated versus undefeated. One of those games is Waterown @ Forrest. Here is Donovan’s Victory Formation column. CLICK HERE

    5. Stratford (6-0) @ CPA (1-4)

To go along with our written content and video, we also feature podcasts on the site. Each week, I’m joined by high school football guests ranging from coaches to players to members of the media on my “High School Football Hour” show on 104.5 The Zone. The show airs at 9pm CST every Wednesday and if you miss it, you can hear all of our interviews starting at 7am on Thursday mornings. Here is my conversation with Stratford Offensive Coordinator and former Tennessee Vol Buck Fitzgerald. Buck and I discussed the rise of the Spartans and their big match-up with CPA tonight. CLICK HERE
