Free Admission to The Hermitage Celebrating Battle of New Orleans

Visit The Hermitage today for free!  On January 8, 1815 Andrew Jackson led an army of soldiers and defeated the British during the Battle of New Orleans. This victory projected him to rockstar status in the United States which eventually led to his presidency. Therefore, in essence Andrew Jackson was Music City’s very first rockstar. AND each year Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage: Home of the People’s President (@7thpresident) celebrates the occasion by providing FREE admission to all on January 8. There are fun activities to take part in throughout the day. Don’t miss it.

A wreath-laying ceremony featuring the National Guard will be held at Jackson’s tomb at 11:00am, and living history programs featuring War of 1812 soldiers will be offered throughout the day. The main theatre will also be running a movie marathon of films featuring Jackson and New Orleans, and author David Plater will be hosting a talk and book-signing of his work “The Butlers of Iberville Parish, Louisiana” at 1:30pm.

The Hermitage will open from 9am-4:30pm.  Located at 4580 Rachel’s Lane, Nashville.
