Franklin quarterback Carter Hendry accounted for three total touchdowns, and the Franklin defense held Spring Hill star Dontae Smith to a season-low 26 rushing yards, in Franklin’s surprising 38-21 win over the Raiders on Friday.

Hendry threw touchdown passes to John Taylor (29 yards) and Chancellor Bright (52), and ran for a 1-yard score. He was 5-of-11 passing for 103 yards, and ran seven times for 69 more.

Franklin two-way star Matt Gaca ran 25 times for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and had three tackles.

Franklin complied 358 yards to Spring HIll’s 210.

After Hendry threw those two touchdowns in the first half, the Rebels took a 24-7 lead on Gaca’s 7-yard touchdown run with 9:43 left in the third quarter.

Spring Hill answered with third-quarter touchdown runs by Hadrian Phillips and T.J. Ennis, but Hendry’s 1-yard run with 7:20 to play pushed the margin back to 17.

Franklin (2-7) hosts Dickson County next week, and Spring Hill (4-5) road-trips to Lawrence County.
