Franklin fell to 1-5 with a 31-17 loss at Hendersonville on Friday evening.
The Rebels out-gained the Commandos, 379-376, but two turnovers and a special teams issue proved costly.
Franklin’s two-way star, Matt Gaca, was great again. He rushed 24 times for 163 yards and added four solo tackles.
Trailing by 21, Franklin’s Josh Nichols threw a 1-yard scoring pass to John Taylor with 48 seconds left in the third quarter.
But Hendersonville’s Anthony Hughes answered with a 33-yard score, his third touchdown of the night, to put the game away with 9:01 left.
Franklin’s Rashad Jenkins added a 16-yard scoring run with nine seconds left in the game.
Leading 3-0, the Commandos scored on Hughes’s 70-yard run on a fake punt with 11:40 to go before half.
Hendersonville led 17-3 at the half, thanks to another Hughes score. Christopher Miller-Hill’s 26-yard field goal accounted for the only Rebel points in the first half.
Franklin travels to Centennial next week.
