Franklin Versus Centennial: Old Rivals, New Districts

Centennial and Franklin start their seasons tonight at 7 p.m. at Centennial High School in one of our Games of the Week.

The longtime district rivals were put in different districts this offseason, so this game is for bragging rights. But in the highly competitive Williamson County world of high school football, the stakes feel as high as always.

For Centennial, after advancing to the state quarterfinals last year, everyone will be looking to see what they do at quarterback and other key positions the need to be filled, according to Jacob Underwood at PrepWeekly.com:

Coach Rector has two good options to pick from. Fortunately, he has experience blending a two-quarterback system dating back to his days at Ravenwood. Owen Roth was the team’s primary quarterback a year ago after winning an early season competition. Tristan Pisacane and Blake Lovell are the two aforementioned options. Piscane brings athleticism to the position. Lovell (6’1, 170) is a senior transfer from Spring Hill that will compete for playing time.Just as important as the quarterback situation will be replacing graduates RB Deon Sanders (Furman) and WR Emanuel Hall (Missouri). Those are two of the best players in school history who will most definitely be missed.Texas A&M commitment Tyrel Dodson will see an increased workload offensively. He was the number two running back a year ago. Managing his snap count will be the biggest challenge for Coach Rector and his offensive staff. -Complete analysis at PrepWeekly.com

As for Franklin, according to Chad Withrow at PrepWeekly.com,

Offensively, Franklin returns only three starters to an offense that’s simply described by Coach Webb as “multiple”.  Leading that multiple offense will be QB Kyle Evans (5;11, 190).  The senior possesses great leadership qualities and is a fierce competitor. Carrying the ball out of the backfield will be RB Lannom Craddock (6;0, 170). The senior was a starter on defense a year ago but will be relied upon for offensive production in 2015. Mitch Rossi (6;1, 215, Jr.) will lead block for Craddock from his fullback position. Bookend offensive tackles Caden Williams (6;5, 250, Jr.) and Max Wray (6;6, 245, So) will be the driving force in the run game as well as the first line of protection for Evans and the passing attack. Catching passes from Evans will be Junior J.P. Batarseh (5;7, 145). What Batarseh lack in size, he more than makes up for in speed and playmaking ability.-Complete analysis at prepweekly.com
