National Dump the Pump Day is tomorrow, Thurs, June 19th. In recognition of this national day of conservation, Franklin Transit will join with other public transportation systems to participate in this program.

Franklin Transit will offer free rides on all fixed routes Thursday.

“By participating in Dump the Pump Day, we will be welcoming new riders and thanking our regular riders who choose to utilize Franklin’s public transit service by offering free rides on all fixed routes,” said Debbie Henry, executive director of The TMA Group, who operates and manages the Franklin Transit service. “Franklin Transit provides an affordable, and for many of our city’s residents, necessary, alternative to driving.”

Riding public transportation is an economical way to save money. The latest APTA Transit Savings Report shows that a two person household that downsizes to one car can save – on the average – more than $10,174 a year. Access to Franklin’s public transportation system gives people transportation to commute to work, go to school, and travel to medical appointments and more.

All Franklin fixed route transit vehicles now have bicycle racks, increasing sustainable transportation connections throughout the Franklin area.
