Franklin Rodeo Begins in a Roar Last Night

The 63rd annual Franklin Rodeo began with a roar last night at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park. Parking was at a premium by 7 pm so get there early to avoid the long walk through the parking lot. Attendance was so high the Noon Rotary Club was worried about running out of sweet tea by 8 o’clock.

Every seat in the house has a fantastic view of the action as PRCA Pro Rodeo thunders into the arena. Competition was fierce as were the broncs and bulls. Not every rider accomplished their goals and the hard landings of defeat were brutal at times.

Circling the arena are vendors with saddles, cowboy clothing, boots, hats, belts, rubber-band guns and glow sticks for the kids. Check out Franklin’s own Cowboy Store while you are there and remember they will still be around for you after the weekend at 209 South Royal Oaks Boulevard.

Free health screenings and Myo-vision scans are available during breaks in the action. Visit the Cowboy Café run by the Noon Rotary Club for a great deal on dinner and drinks. Remember to keep your souvenir cup for $1 refills all weekend.

Thursday night’s action was good solid family fun with in-your-face action, hilarious clown antics and the premier of the rodeo clown “Mrs. Rodeo Universe.” Don’t miss the fun as the crowd is dragged into the action for a little dancing in the seats.

The Café opens at 5:30 and that is when the good parking will go as well. Action starts at 7 and runs till everyone is too tuckered out to continue. The indoor arena is a nice respite from the warm day, some come on out and see why this rodeo has been the talk of the town for 63 years.
