West Precinct detectives arrested Raymond Amos, 22, for his involvement in the attempted robbery of a man who was interested in buying a pickup truck listed for sale online.

The prospective buyer and a friend, both from Franklin, Tennessee, arrived at a Lenox Avenue residence Thursday at 6:15 p.m. to look at the truck. According to both victims, a man later identified as Christopher Jenkins, 20, then attempted to rob them at gunpoint. A second suspect began to pat the men down. The interested buyer then fired shots in self-defense, apparently striking Jenkins. Both victims ran from the house. They reported hearing gunfire as they escaped. They were not injured. Jenkins, who fled on foot before collapsing in a nearby Kroger parking lot, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

In addition to last night’s attempted robbery, Amos is also charged with the November 2nd hold-up of a man who responded to the Richland Hills apartment complex, 5800 Maudina Avenue, to purchase a cell phone that had been listed for sale online. When he went to meet the seller, he was robbed at gunpoint in a breezeway. Amos was positively identified as the gunman in that case.

Amos is charged with two counts of attempted robbery and aggravated robbery. His photo is being withheld pending lineups.
