For the second year in a row, the Franklin Police Department’s Traffic Unit has earned some of the highest honors in Tennessee for its relentless work to keep the city’s roads safe and drivers protected.
At the Tennessee Highway Safety Office’s (THSO) annual Law Enforcement Challenge Ceremony on Friday, Franklin Police once again swept three of the top honors, including the Overall Winner Award for Police Department. The department also repeated as first-place winner in the 101–200 Officers category and took home the Regional Award for Middle Tennessee.
“This achievement speaks to the consistency, professionalism, and heart our officers put into their work,” said Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner. “Winning once is an honor, but earning these top awards two years in a row shows just how committed our team is to making Franklin’s roads among the safest in the state.”
The Law Enforcement Challenge program recognizes law enforcement agencies that excel in promoting traffic safety initiatives. Agencies are evaluated on categories such as Policies and Guidelines, THSO Activities, Incentives and Recognition, and Public Information and Education.
This back-to-back milestone marks another proud moment for the Franklin Police Department, with more than 60 agencies from across the state competing for the honors.
