As the end of summer draws near, Franklin residents are looking forward to the long Labor Day weekend. While it signals that the end of summer is near, Labor Day weekend is also the fourth most dangerous weekend on the road. We know that alcohol will be served at some of this weekend’s get-togethers, and hope that people will plan ahead who will drive you and your family home.

A first-time DUI offense in Tennessee includes costly fines, court costs, legal feels, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment, and the installation of an ignition interlock device. In the end, a typical DUI arrest ends up costing about $10,000. But, getting behind the wheel of a vehicle could end up costing so much more. Labor Day weekend traffic fatalities average an alarming 298 every year.

Officers will be out in force this Labor Day weekend, helping to keep Franklin safe by being on the lookout for, detecting, and arresting impaired drivers. Celebrate safe: Do not drink and drive.
