Franklin Police Updates in July

The first tip is that Closed Roads are designated that for a reason. “Simply put, roadways that are under construction or closed for repairs are off limits. If a ‘Road Closed’ sign is in place and you bypass barricades to drive it, your next stop may end up being a courtroom.”

Franklin police have and will cite violators of this posting. It is a Class A misdemeanor in Tennessee and punishable by jail time of up to one year and a fine not to exceed $2500. “Driving on a closed street is dangerous, regardless of the time of day,” said Sergeant Charles Warner. “Doing so poses a danger to workers and motorists. Even during off hours, drop-offs or other temporary defects on closed roadways can put drivers at serious risk. Compliance with signage isn’t an option, it’s the law.”

DUI or Driving Under the Influence is a serious offense and can impact more than just you and your vehicle. Once again the department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Highway 96 W near Carlisle Lane on Friday the 27th. Traffic safety is a top priority in Tennessee and Franklin Police take their job of protecting citizens very seriously.

Please don’t Drink and Drive.
