It didn’t take long for the Franklin Rebels to take full control of their game against McGavock (1-7, 1-4) Friday.

The Rebels (7-1, 5-0) led the Raiders 34-7 after the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way to a 48-21 win.

Franklin dominated both sides of the ball. Offensively, the Rebels gained 426 total yards (298 rushing, 128 passing).

Mitch Rossi spearheaded offense with 143 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

Quarterback Wes Patterson completed all four of his passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. He added six carries for 46 yards and another score. Alex Gaca and Gentry Neese each had one receiving TD, while Carter Hendry and Collin Saulters had rushing scores.

Defensively, the Rebels held McGavock to 209 total yards of offense, negative 5 yards of which came from the passing game.

Franklin forced the Raiders into two turnovers (one interception, one fumble recovery), and the Rebels also registered two sacks.

The win is the seventh in a row for Franklin, and it sets it up with a matchup against second-place Mt. Juliet next week. The Golden Bears had a bye Friday.

A win against Mt. Juliet would give the Rebels the Region 3-6A title.
