Franklin Moto Opens in The Factory

Franklin Moto

Local Small Business of the Week Header

Quietly opening without a rumble, so to speak, Franklin Moto has been up and running for a couple of weeks in The Factory at Franklin.

Its barn wood walls provide a fitting backdrop for gear sought by the motorcycle enthusiast, complete with an antique motorcycle that sits in the shop. The old bike is one that Franklin Moto purchased while it was sitting on the front lawn of an 80-year-old veteran, who was selling the 1974 CB350 so that he could attend a WWII reunion . The motorcycle has been restored making for a great conversation starter.

We had the opportunity to sit down with owner John Chandler who shared more about what you can expect when you visit Franklin Moto.

Tell us why you opened Franklin Moto?

Our purpose is two-fold. First, we wanted to create a retail space where the Franklin/Williamson County area motorcycle riders of all types can come together and feel welcomed and celebrated regardless of make, model or style of motorcycle they ride. We also plan to open Franklin’s first membership-based community motorcycle garage where people can store, maintain, and customize their bikes in a friendly environment. We will provide free use of specialty tools and workbenches. We also plan to offer free basic maintenance classes for members as well.

What can a customer expect to find when they shop at Franklin Moto?

We offer a small selection of new and vintage riding apparel and accessories for the motorcycle riders.

How much of a motorcycle enthusiast are all of the employees at Franklin Moto?

Every employee at Franklin Moto shares a deep passion for riding. All of our employees have a long history in the motorcycle industry.

Do you plan any activities for those who like to ride?

In the spring we will begin hosting monthly community rides with each one benefiting a local charity. We also have plans for an annual motorcycle show and swap meet along with other planned rides around Tennessee.

What would you say is your most popular item in the store?

The Grifter brand of leather riding gloves and our Franklin Moto t-shirts have been very popular sellers so far.

Thanks to owner John Chandler for taking time out to talk with us.  Be sure to follow Franklin Moto on Facebook for the latest updates and offerings.
