Franklin Man Charged With Hitting Cyclist Accepts Plea Deal

The man arrested for a hit-and-run involving a cyclist on the Natchez Trace Pkwy last year has accepted a plea deal, reports WKRN.

Marshall Neely III, 59, of Franklin, pleaded guilty to three charges: reckless aggravated assault, lying to a federal agent and obstruction of justice. Neely accepted a term of 10 months in jail followed by three years supervised release. Neely also agreed to pay $1,210.00 in restitution to the victim.

Last July, Greg Goodman and Tyler Noe were biking along the Natchez Trace on a Saturday morning when Noe was hit by a car. The incident was captured on video (below). The National Park Service arrested Marshall Grant Neely III for the alleged hit-and-run.

Neely was charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to immediately notify of an accident, and failure to render aid.

  1. given the amount of jail time each of those offenses could have gotten him, he got a pretty sweet deal.
