Franklin High Students Compete for Scholarships

Franklin High School

Ellie Hawkins was one of five finalists in this year’s O’More College of Design’s Verve Show. She was a finalist last year as well, but this year she won second place and was awarded a $30,000 scholarship.

O’More College of Design offered Tennessee high school students the opportunity to compete on a state-wide level in a number of graphic, web and motion design categories through the 2014 Verve Show.

Interested students are asked to create a poster showing what Paul Rand’s quote “Everything is design. Everything!” means to them. The judges, selected by School of Visual Design faculty, are looking for talented creative visual solutions through incorporated drawing, text, painting, mixed-media and/or photography by any medium.

Speaking of awards, the FHS Forensics team recently competed in Rossview High’s Congressional tournament in Clarksville, and they all did an excellent job representing FHS. In the Novice chamber, we had Kelli Kee, Tian Geng and Alex Grouzis. In the House, we had Bailey Lanai and Jacob Yousief. In Senate, we had Diana Pope and Musa Subramanian. Alex, Tian and Musa all broke into the finals, so a huge congratulations to them and congrats to all who participated.
