Aug 5 2025 – Franklin High’s HOSA chapter is being recognized at the national level for its work with the Red Cross.

The chapter earned a Gold Level recognition at the HOSA International Leadership Conference over the summer. To reach the Gold Level, chapters must dedicate more than 300 hours of volunteer service throughout the year.

“We held two blood drives during the school year, which were predominately run by members of our chapter,” said FHS HOSA sponsor Emily Orbison. “A few of our members donated blood on their own time and volunteered for the organization. We also participated in educational sessions with staff from the Red Cross and toured their Nashville location to learn more about where blood goes after it is donated and the importance of blood donors.”

In addition to the group recognition, Franklin High Class of 2025 alum Joshua Fine also placed tenth on the written test for Anatomy and Physiology. Thousands of students competed in the various written tests.

HOSA is a global organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. Each year, students compete at the state and international levels against their peers to test their skills in various categories.

“HOSA is a group of students who intend to pursue a career in healthcare,” said Orbison. “These students are caring and compassionate and are always seeking opportunities to serve in our community. I am grateful to be able to guide them and see how they continue to grow.”
