Recently the members of the Downtown Neighborhood Association met to elect board members and set priorities for the 2012-2013 year. Membership to the board is open to all residents of Franklin and your input is welcomed. The slate for new officers was accepted unanimously.

City Manager Eric Stuckey, joined by Ward Alderman Margaret Martin, gave updates on city projects and answered questions on issues. New officers are as follows: Gregory Flittner as president, Mike Desmond as vice president, Margaret Martin to serve a second term as treasurer, and Martha Thuma to serve a second term as secretary. Dan Klatt and 11th District County Commissioner Brian Beathard were nominated as new Board members.

Five Priorities Were Adopted For The Coming Year
Streetscape: continued completion of the Gateway Corridors and Connector Streets.
Historic Zoning: continue monitoring and encourage protection.
Rediscover the River: continue clean-up efforts and inclusion of the Harpeth in downtown’s quality of life.
Redevelopment: monitor ongoing redevelopment.
Greenways: encourage greenway connections into downtown.

Outgoing president Ernie Bacon presented an award for Outstanding Service to departing board member Col. Sam Whitson, who retired to the Hincheyville neighborhood in 2000 with his wife Pam.
