The City of Franklin is once again leading the way with their new emergency notification system, Franklin Citizen Alert System. Those listed in the city’s 9-1-1 database will receive immediate alerts by phone within minutes of emergency. Residents can self-register and opt-out of the service at any time.
Fires, floods, road closure, utility maintenance and more will be reported using the system. You can choose your method of notification to your home, cellular, fax, pager or any other data receiving device. Alerts can even be sent to specific geographic regions so only those in the affected area receive an alert. “Many homes no longer have a traditional landline phone,” stated City Administrator Eric Stuckey. “This notification system will let our residents and businesses determine how, or even if, they’d like to be notified during an emergency or critical situation.”
Residents and businesses who want to participate need to go to www.FranklinTN.gov/CitizenAlert to sign up, provide information or opt-out. The system was developed by Everbridge, a leader in incident notification, whose customers include FEMA and Royal Caribbean International. Franklin is the only city in Tennessee using Everbridge.
Individuals with disabilities needing assistance can call (615) 550-6978 to register.
