Franklin is One of the First Cities to Achieve Pet-Friendliness Certification

Franklin and its northern sister Nashville has officially achieved Mars Petcare’s BETTER CITY FOR PETS™ certification, two of the first 25 cities to ever do so. What does this mean for pets in these Middle Tennessee cities? It means that these cities have proven their green spaces, businesses, homes and shelters to be pet-friendly – meeting criteria of the certification.

The certification, which celebrates cities where people and pets thrive, is an extension of Mars Petcare’s BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program, which works with local governments, businesses and non-profits to help communities make pets more welcome. When 82 percent of people say having a pet positively impacts their lives, it’s important communities support pet-friendly needs so that people and pets can live life to the fullest.

As more pets become integral members of households, families recognize the impact pets have on their emotional, physical and social wellbeing. With this certification, Franklin and Nashville is returning the favor and making those loving companions feel welcome.
