Franklin Band Captures 2nd Place in Bands of America Regional Competition

In its first competition of the season, The Franklin Band took 2nd place at the Bands of America Clarksville Regional at Austin Peay State University on September 23. Comprised cof 25 bands from Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi, Alabama, and Indiana, the competition represented four different band class sizes.

Franklin’s 2017 show is entitled Beneath the Surface and includes excerpts from Four Sea Interludes from ‘Peter Grimes’ by Benjamin Britten, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams, The Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre, and A Sea Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The band is under the direction of David Aydelott and assistant directors Michael Holland and Jacob Campos.

On Saturday, October 7, The Franklin Band will host its Sonic Boom! marching band competition featuring 10 high school bands from across Tennessee—Lebanon, White House, East Hickman, Antioch, Union City, McGavock, Ravenwood, Father Ryan, Station Camp, and Centennial. The event begins a 6:00 p.m. at Howard Gamble Stadium at Franklin High School, 810 Hillsboro Road, Franklin, TN. Admission is $10 at the gate. Franklin will conclude the evening with an exhibition performance of their show.
