Franklin Art Scene returns on Friday, Jan. 5 with more than 15 sites hosting artists, in addition to the returning Passport Program hosted by the Downtown Franklin Association.
The Passport Program invites guests to grab a passport at any of the sites and have it stamped along the way while touring the arts of Historic Downtown Franklin. Visitors with eight or more site visit stamps will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card to Gray’s on Main and two movie tickets to the Franklin Theatre.
Participating Passport Program sites include Imaginebox Emporium, Academy Park Enrichment and Performing Arts, Bagbey House, CJ’s Off the Square, Franklin First United Methodist Church, Historic Franklin Presbyterian, Landmark Booksellers, Merridee’s, Moyer Financial Services, LLC, O’More College of Design, Savory Spice Shop, Scout’s Barbershop, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café, Twine Graphics, Visitor Center and Williamson County Archives.
Franklin Art Scene is hosted by the Downtown Franklin Association on the first Friday of every month as a “tour of the arts.”
Featured artists in the January Art Scene include:
- Academy Park Enrichment and Performing Arts, located at 120 Everbright Ave., will host the works Ann Light and her series, “My Mind’s Eye.”
- Bagbey House and More, located at 134 Fourth Ave. N., will feature two artists, Michele Richardson and Yohei Koinuma.
- CJ’s Off The Square, located at 218 Third Ave. N., will feature painter, fiber artist, knitting designer and calligrapher Lenita Rich.
- Franklin First United Methodist Church, located at 148 Fifth Ave. S., will host Margo, Sonny and Gretchen Woodruff, who have a combined 65 years of painting experience.
- Imaginebox Emporium, located at 311 N. Margin St., will showcase original illustrations created by Cory Basil.
- Moyer Financial, located at 400 Main St., will host artist Amber Franklin.
- Scout’s Barbershop, located at 508 W. Main St., will display photographs by Robert Upleger.
- Twine Graphics, located at 304 Public Square, will feature portraits by Meg Marano, focusing on a connection so often missing between people.
- Williamson County Archives, located at 611 W. Main St., will feature Joel Barnett and his “High Tide/Low Tide” series of art.The Downtown Franklin Association invites lovers of the arts to stop by all participating locations during the evening’s crawl, and the Art Scene trolley is also available for free rides throughout the crawl, sponsored by Genesis of Cool Springs.
