Ravenwood’s Sam French kicked a pair of field goals, and Cameron Scherer ran for a touchdown, as the Raptors outlasted Franklin, 13-10, on Friday night.

French hit field goals form 31 and 37 yards out, one coming in each half, as the Raptors won a battle of Region 6-6A teams.

Heavy rains made for treacherous playing conditions coming into Friday. That rain continued and picked up throughout the evening, making things tougher for both teams.

Franklin had just 84 yards of total offense, and Ravenwood, 166. The teams were a combined 6-for-21 on passing attempts for just 45 yards.

A 33-yard, fourth-quarter field goal by Franklin’s Christopher Miller-Hill tied the game at 10.

But French added a 37-yard field goal to put the Raptors back up by three with about five minutes to play.

Ravenwood took a lead over Franklin in the first quarter on Scherer’s 35-yard touchdown run, and French’s point-after made it 7-0.

But the Raptors, leading 10-0 after a French field goal, handed Franklin an easy score after Ravenwood fumbled and Franklin’s Matt Gaca scored on a 12-yard run.

Franklin’s Gaca rushed for 63 yards and had 4 1/2 tackles.

That score held at the half.

Franklin (0-3) hosts McGavock next week, while Ravenwood (2-1) travels to Page.
