Perhaps TSSAA saved the best for last with the final match of the day at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena. These two teams came out of the gates in stride, going blow for blow.
FRA would hit a three and before the Panther faithful had time to silence their applause, Lausanne would knock down their own three.
In the second quarter FRA’s momentum halted and passing lanes into the paint closed off as they tried to feed their big man, Jack Doherty to no avail. Lausanne would pull away in the quarter and take a 37 to 25 lead into intermission.
At the start of the third Lausanne displayed what got them here, their speed. Racing up and down the court time and time again for easy buckets.
FRA, pressing, began to force tough shots in an attempt to keep up the frantic pace of the Lynx. FRA would make another run at Lausanne’s lead only to once again be turned away.
The culmination of a season in eight minutes for two teams. FRA, facing the team they defeated last year in this game, now down by 11 in the fourth.
The Panthers fought and claw in the final minutes, but this year would belong to the Lausanne Lynx. The team from Memphis would go on to be crowned DII-A 2017 State Champs, getting revenge for last year’s loss.
