Officers were summoned to the 1200 block of Liberty Pike, near Turning Wheel Lane at 2:30 Saturday morning for an injury crash involving a motorcycle. Another motorist called for help after discovering a motorcycle near the ditch. Arriving officers found an injured 30-year-old Franklin man on the ground nearby. Paramedics transported him to the hospital where his condition worsened, and he later died. The driver, who was conscious when officers arrived, said that he lost control of the motorcycle after swerving to miss a deer. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
