Chris Johnson is trading blue for green.

News broke this afternoon that the former Tennessee Titan star running back has agreed to join the New York Jets organization to a two-year contract, according to ESPN.

Johnson was released by the Titans on April 4 and was only contacted by one team who eventually ended up getting him. In his time wearing blue and white, Johnson was a six-time 1,000-yard rusher and three-time Pro Bowler.

Johnson, aka “CJ2K”, averaged just less than 3.9 yards per carry and his last few seasons with the Titans were disappointing. After he ran for 2,006 yards in the 2009 season, his production value has scaled back and dropped since then, forcing the team to cut their losses. He was scheduled to make $8 million this upcoming season, and the Titans felt best to cut him loose.

His health was also a point of concern. Coming off a torn meniscus in his right knee in January, the Jets will hope he still carries the same quick rushing game to East Rutherford.

Last year, the Jets finished sixth in the NFL in rushing yards per game and 10th in yards per carry. Johnson joins a solid running back lineup that included Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Mike Goodson and Alex Green. Where on the starting rotation Johnson will land remains to be seen.
